Every year, the Greensboro Builders Association (“GBA”) Remodelers Council strives to complete a new community service project. A few of the past projects include Amy’s House with A Room at the Inn of the Triad, a Butterfly Kiosk at Price Park, a sunroom addition at Beacon Place, renovations of the UNC-G Bryan House, and many more. Council members choose projects that in some way improves the communities where we live, work and play.

For the past two years, the Remodelers Council has worked on a community service project at the McIver Center, a program for autistic children of variouis ages, designing and universal kitchen for those at the Center to learn life skills and help with social interaction.

The philosophy of the McIver Education Center is that all students can, should and must learn to their fullest potential. They create activities that enable students to obtain actual hands on experience. They also provide them with a sense of accomplishment and self worth.

This 3,000 square foot space was a room that was in poor condition and not a good use of space so Council members tore out the existing cabinets so they could start with a blank slate. This newly remodeled space includes new appliances, tile, cabinetry, countertops and flooring. Council members provided concept design, labor and materials. A dedication ceremony for the newly redesigned room was held in June, 2009.

This project could not have been completed without the contribution of various monetary donations including a sizeable donation by VF Corporation. Special thanks to all Council members and GBA members who made contributions to this project.

Builders MD was one of the participants in this year’s project at the McIver Education Center. They have also participated in previous projects including Amy’s House with A Room at the Inn of the Triad.

Builders MD proudly announces the debut of its website.

Builders MD proudly announces the debut of its website. We are up and live as of July 15th with some pictures available of the jobs we have done over the past two years. We celebrated our 2nd anniversary on May 7, 2009 and think that the launch of the website is a great way to celebrate our longevity. We came into this business straight out of college, getting degrees in Business and Construction Technology, and having worked for a combined total of over 10 years in the construction business while in school, ran right into a major economic recession and housing slowdown. But you, our clients, have been very good to hire us and we have flourished during this time. We are continually adding new clients and doing repeat business with existing clients. Thank you for entrusting your remodel dreams to us. We will keep on working to earn your trust and business.
